EDINBURGH NORTHWEST KIRK ANNOUNCEMENTS

WELCOME TO WORSHIP at Pennywell Kirk in church and on-line. We are glad you have been able to join us.

FURTHER INFORMATION on many of the following announcements is available from Louise in the Cramond Kirk Office or from Alan Fisher at Pennywell Kirk (fishatthewell@hotmail.com). The Cramond Kirk office is open from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Louise can also be contacted on 336 2036 or by e-mail at office@cramondkirk.org.uk.

THE KIRK OFFICE will be closed on Monday, 4 August.

JOINING THE CHURCH If you or anyone you know is interested in finding out more about becoming a member of the Church of Scotland, Reverend Julia Cato will be holding enquirers’ evenings in August/September and new members will join the Church during the 10.30 am service on Sunday, 5 October. Please contact the Kirk Office if you’d like to find out more.

FACILITIES OFFICER & BEADLE Edinburgh Northwest Kirk is looking to appoint 2 new members of staff - a Facilities Officer to oversee the day to day running of our buildings including the Kirk halls and a Beadle to support the Minister and congregation before, during and after worship services at Cramond and Pennywell. Job descriptions and application forms for both posts are available HERE and the closing date for both applications is Monday, 25 August. Please pass on the details to anybody you know who may be interested in either post.

AN AFTERNOON TEA for Ukrainian refugees is being held in Cramond Kirk Hall on Friday, 8 August from 2 pm. If anyone is able to help with the event, either welcoming those attending, helping with the setting up and/or clearing away or baking, please contact Louise in the Kirk Office.

TWO CHILDREN’S SUMMER HOLIDAY CLUBS, on the theme of Space, are being held this month. The first is at Cramond on Monday, 11 August from 9 am to 3.30 pm with the option of morning, afternoon or a full day and the second is at Pennywell on Tuesday, 12 August from 10 am to 1 pm with lunch provided. The clubs are open to children aged 4 – 12. With lots of games and crafts, it promises to be a great way to spend a few hours. Further details and registration forms are available by emailing enkholidayclub@gmail.com. And if anyone is happy to help on either day, please contact Louise in the Kirk Office.

VISITING TEAM COFFEE MORNING The next Visiting Team coffee morning will be held at the Bruntsfield Golf Club on Thursday, 21 August from 10.30 am to 12 noon.  Cost : £5. Please let Louise in the Kirk Office know if you’d like to attend. All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there for a happy morning full of scones and chat.

A TRIP TO PITLOCHRY We are hoping to arrange a day trip to Pitlochry on Monday, 1 September. If you’d like further details or wish to reserve a place, please let Louise in the Kirk Office know.

‘THE PLACE TO BE’ COFFEE MORNING is held in Pennywell Kirk Hall every Monday at 10 am with an outing on the first Monday of the month. The outing on 4 August will be to Corstorphine. Further details are available from Violetta on 07305 848150. All are welcome.

CRAMOND COFFEE & CHAT is on every Monday from 10.30 am to 12 noon in the Gathering Space of Cramond Kirk Hall and all are welcome.

THE GATHERING SPACE CAFÉ is closed for the summer break but Heather & Cathy look forward to seeing you back again on Tuesday, 19 August.

GREETINGS CARDS Over the past couple of months a stand with a selection of greetings cards could be found in the Gathering Space of the Kirk Hall, with the cards available for a small donation, and it has raised over £30 for Christian Aid. If you have any unused greetings cards you don’t need, please leave them in the box in the Session House or hand them into the Kirk Office. Many thanks.

EDINBURGH FESTIVAL OF THE SACRED ARTS is taking place from 10-16 August at venues across Edinburgh. The Festival includes music, talks, poetry and art exhibitions starting with the Festival opening service in St John’s Episcopal Church. The service will be held on Sunday, 10 August at 10.30 am with guest preacher, Dr Rowan Williams. Full details of the programme can be found HERE

THE BRICK JOURNEYS LEGO EXHIBITION is being held at The Pitt, 20 West Shore Road, Granton until 24 August – daily until 10 August and Thursday to Sunday from 11 to 24 August. It’s an excellent way to entertain children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Tickets cost £4.50 per child/£8 per adult and for every 2 children, one adult can enter for free. Tickets are available HERE.

FRESH START Many thanks for the recent donations of electrical items and bedding. Donations can be left on the Fresh Start table in the Kirk Hall at any time or delivered to the Fresh Start warehouse at 22-24 Ferry Road Drive from Mon–Thurs, 9 am – 4 pm.

LIVE STREAMING Please note that the 10 am service at Cramond Kirk and the 11 am service at Pennywell Kirk are live streamed to the Kirk website every Sunday morning. The cameras will focus on the front of the Kirks – the pulpit, lectern and Communion Table. However some of those sitting at the front may also be in camera shot. For those of you watching from home, the links to the services can be found HERE.
